Identify and describe your personal professional goals and objectives within the parameters of the field education experience.

As a social work student and given my passion for working with the community, I have numerous personal and professional interests that I believe I must achieve as I undertake this learning process. As observed by Dawson and Gupta (2020), the core objective of social work profession is to enhance the quality of life experienced within the society and to realize individual, group, family, and community development.

For this reason, my primary priorities entail integrating and translating the learned concepts into community programs that can be implemented in a classroom setting. In my practice, I intend to bring knowledge to the learner’s level of understanding and to ensure that the applied teaching tools and technique are learner-centered. I believe that this will not only help me become a better social worker, but also a utility resource for the learners.

My second priority is to be able to leverage my social work knowledge and leadership skills and features to meet the unique needs of the American society. For instance, the American society is increasingly turning to the special knowledge and expertise of social workers to help in the implementation of office-based opioid treatment (OBOT) intervention.

The immense contributions made by social workers in integrated settings, according to Lombardi et al. (2019 Education Theories Self-Assessment Paper), makes them uniquely positioned to aid in the effective implementation of OBOT programs. Given my dedication to social work and my aspiration to build working relationships and offer positive role model actions, I believe I can make immense contribution in the mitigation or elimination of certain social ills that plague the American society.

Explain how your personal professional goals and objectives that you identified might be reflected in your agency learning agreement.

The first objective I identified entail integrating and translating the concepts I will have learnt into community programs that can be implemented in different settings, including classroom. Ideally, the goal here is to ensure that despite the shifting dynamics in the field of social work, that I will be able to engage and work with people and to ensure that my knowledge and expertise translate into something fruitful for the community.

For instance, I understand that diversity and social justice present some of the contentious topics in the U.S., and as Hightower and Johnson (2019) observe, pertinent variations exist in the way schools approach instruction on the two topics. My goal, therefore, is to bridge this gap by integrating different models of instructions for enhanced learner understanding.

The above objective is in harmony with my second identified priority, which is to leverage the knowledge and skills acquired to help meet the unique needs of the American society. Dedicating my time to help solve one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century American society, namely the opioid crisis, synchronizes with the Learning Agreement in that it will not only help me learn about the nuances within the society from the problem context, but it will also offer me an opportunity to contribute to the society’s wellbeing through leadership, mentor learning, and motivational education and training.
