Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief

Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief

New health care innovations offer the advanced registered nurse an opportunity to apply emerging technologies in practice to improve quality and patient outcomes. For this assignment, research an emerging health care technology that you think has the potential to overcome current or emerging barriers to care. Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief

Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief

Write a 500-750 word brief. Include the following:

Provide an overview of the emerging technology and its role/function in health care. Consider its potential for improving access to care and promoting patient safety and quality.
Describe ethical or legal issues that would accompany the incorporation of the technology.
Explain the nurse\’s informatics role in regard to the technology. Provide examples of the roles and job functions.
Outline the role of workflow analysis, human factors, and user-centered design concepts for your chosen technology example.
Refer to the study materials for samples and resources to help you construct your brief.

You are required to cite three to five sources to complete this Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and nursing content.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.

Separate question: In what ways can informatics help health care providers overcome current or emerging barriers to care and increase access to safe, quality health care? Include a discussion of the value and challenges of clinical provider order entry (CPOE) and clinical decision support systems (CDSS) in providing safe patient care in your response. Why are heuristic principles (human factors/usability/user centered design) important for efficient clinical information systems such as CPOE and CDSS? answer approx 300 words and 1 reference. Emerging Technology Brief- Telehealth and Mobile Applications Sample Approach

Question One

With increased portability and improvements of technologies, every home has access to technology. The use of technology in the provision or getting medical care encompasses telehealth. Telehealth and applications is a 21st-century technology that is patient-centered and aims at protecting the patients, physicians, and nurses from getting infected (Bashir and Bastola, 2018).  Furthermore, it helps reduce the distance barrier in the provision of care.  The telehealth approaches to ensure that nurses are a call away, ensuring good cooperation between patients and their physicians.  The process allows for the management of emergency conditions through the nurses’ directions to provide first aid to patients who need agent help. Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief

Various occurrences such as the covid 19 pandemics have led to lower rates of interactions and a reduction in the number of hospital admissions (Monaghesh and Hajizadeh, 2020 Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief). Nurses, physicians, and patients are sometimes separated due to the covid 19 status (Monaghesh and Hajizadeh, 2020 Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief). Telehealth approaches and mobile applications allow for the provision of nursing services from the isolation centers. There are many areas in which the nurse may help. The nurse’s role is to provide a treatment achieved by giving mental support if the physical backing may not be possible.

Telehealth has a wide range of advantages in providing care, especially with the rising number of lifestyle diseases.  For example, in diabetes, the telehealth applications help determine the food logs, the dosing, and the medications that one may need to adhere to at a time. The approach also allows the patients access their portals, whereby they can know more concerning their test results and request and schedule appointments when necessary (Moghbeli, Langarizadeh and Ali, 2017). The course helps in the decongestion of the hospitals as every patient can book days when there is no high number of patients in a hospital.  Telehealth makes medical services to be accessible to marginal communities with limited transport options. The telehealth approach allows the patients to access a limited number of nurse specialists, which helps ensure that every patient’s problem is effectively solved. The technology allows for a window for patient self-management (Moghbeli, Langarizadeh and Ali, 2017 Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief). It will enable the patient to monitor their health status and act in the most appropriate ways to ensure their health status is always ensured.

The involvement of technology in health comes with some ethical concerns. The first concern is ensuring that the technology can mimic all the required medical approaches towards ensuring health. The technological advancement should be able to offer the services that are expected of them without causing harm to the users (Moghbeli, Langarizadeh and Ali, 2017).  There should be an approach to ensure professionalism in communications in the virtual processes as well. The approach is expected to ensure that the nurse’s privacy and the patients’ privacy are maintained. Information regarding the patient’s health is usually critical. It may need one to ensure that they are communicating to the wanted recipient before communicating to ensure that they can ensure a better degree of performance. The telemedicine approach should not replace the expected and re-known medical ethics used to define the provision of medical services to a group of people (Moghbeli, Langarizadeh and Ali, 2017 Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief). The workflow analysis for telehealth includes the patient calling for help from any paramedic available before deciding the types of activities and services that need to be considered to ensure that there is a significant growth in the population’s interests from time to time.

Question Two

Over time, there have been efforts to ensure that healthcare professionals can integrate medical concepts into technology. Healthcare informatics has ensured that there is an appropriate record-keeping approach that ensures that every segment of healthcare is sufficiently updated.  It helps ensure that healthcare can act in the most appropriate ways possible towards ensuring that every activity of the business can run in the most effective ways possible. The emerging barrier to the provision of medical services is the pandemic which limits the gathering of patients (Dohan 2017). The approach ensures a better approach towards ensuring that the specific patient interests and problems are effectively ensured according to the organizational needs and responsibilities.  Informatics allows for faster access to medical care, which helps ensure that the patient’s conditions are always ensured to allow for a better helping of the patient’s conditions most of the time (Dohan 2017 Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief). It ensures that the patient can get over various emergency medical conditions as it is possible to effectively communicate to their caregiver and ensure that their conditions are always well thought of and ensures that they can get over their medical conditions most of the time.

Healthcare informatics approaches have a memory system that can help the physician and nursing care (Sharma, Devi & Sharma, 2020 Assignment: Emerging Technology Brief). Healthcare informatics also allows the patients to have basic knowledge on first aid and ensure that they are always able to help out the various medical conditions and problems that they are likely to suffer from time to time. The approach allows for making the most accurate clinical diagnosis systems that help ensure that the specific patient data and problems are accurately solved.
